Money. You have it. Young ladies about to get married need to make sure their future husband has a working plan to provide a living. “Living on Love” lasts about thirty minutes into the wedding. Then it’s time for the reception dinner. Time to eat! And you need money to eat. Money is essential in our society for obtaining the necessities of life. It is not the root of all kinds of evil, but the love of money is (1 Timothy 6:10), You need money to live.
On the other hand, isn’t it easy to find yourself living for money? For many, life is all about the next possession, the bigger house, the newer vehicle, the piece of land and the raise at work. Yet Jesus said, “Take heed and beware of covetousness; for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses (Luke 12:15). Your life is not measured by what you own! Perhaps in the eyes of other people but not in the grand scheme of life and most importantly not in God’s eyes.
Life is about godliness. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good , or whether it be evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14). We were created and given purpose for our life by God to bring glory to God. We do that when we live noble lives, obedient to His Will. Life should be about doing a good job on the job, family and the church. Lie is about service and saying no to self. Life is about laying up treasures in heaven. When we learn to be happy and content in living the right kind of life, then we truly have something.
Godliness and contentment is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6).
