Why do you curse yourself?
Your spoken words are powerful enough to place your own life under a curse. Your spoken words are very powerful, and can be a destructive force in the universe. Your words have the power to destroy. In fact, your spoken words are powerful enough to place your own life under a curse.
What is a curse? A curse is a divine sentence of punishment. A curse lines up the universal forces in opposition to your well-being.
Jesus entered Jerusalem and came into the temple; and after looking around at everything, He left for Bethany with the twelve, since it was already late. On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry. Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find any- thing on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening… When evening came, they would go out of the city. As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up. Being reminded, Peter said to Him, “Rabbi, look, the fig tree which you cursed has withered.” (Mark 11:11-21)
The fig tree was cursed by the mighty power of spoken words. Using the power of his spoken word, Jesus cursed the fig tree. His spoken words took the very life out of the tree and it withered from the root in one day.
Your tongue charts the course of your life. Your life will go in the direction that your tongue leads it.
